Optimus D’Bandada 2013

“During Optimus D’ Bandada, Porto is a car radio tuning: a station on every corner, a song in every street.”

in Público Newspaper

For the 3rd edition of the event, we created a new identity that reinforces some aspects:
– Solidifies the relevance of the event towards the public.
– Strengthens the idea of a music party, popular and engaging, as a  “São João da Música”
– Increases the connection between the event, the brand, the bands and the audience, in a Live Showcase.

Concept – Community Activation
At “S. João”, the entire population goes out, dances to popular music and uses creative, low-budget materials to decorate the streets.
D’ Bandada is a celebration event associated with those traditions. A day of music, the festival involves the local community, which interact with the communication pieces.

D’ Bandada is an event created by Optimus, a telecommunication brand. Connected to music, it takes place during the third Saturday of September each year. The festival invades the night of Porto, with free concerts in unexpected places, captivating an ever changing public. In an unique night, there are simultaneous showcase performances. In 2013 D’ Bandada featured more than 50 bands on 23 stages scattered throughout Porto downtown.

Pop – Up

We chose to use of three-dimensional elements that stand out in a Pop-up effect. The identity is characterized by the use of volumes and textures referring to different themes (popular, musical, tradicional). It is a random, spontaneous event.

Communication: extremely not boring. The pieces were developed according to its specifications, connecting emotionally and participatory with the audience, thus avoiding the “flyer ” or more institutional approaches.

Brand development includes: Event Poster, Pocket Guide, Program Poster, Cardboard Map, Totem, Signage, Stage design, iOS & Android App design.

The card is used as base material for the application of the graphics of Optimus D’ Bandada. It is cheap, low-fi and is perfect for a urban scenery. It is platform for creative interventions of young artists, which opens a multitude of possibilities for interaction in the space. The card is also a recycled, reusable, portable and modular material.
